Today is day 23 after I delivered Jonathan. I have another week to go before confinement ends.
I crave for cold ribena, pokka green tea, ice lemon tea, ice milo, solero ice cream, cold fresh milk, cold fruits (I can only have an apple once a day) ...lots of cold stuff. But I can't have them since it's Chinese tradition I am not supposed to take cold (liang) stuff.
I had some durians though! Since I am not supposed to take cold stuff and have to keep my body warm, durian is good as it qualifies as a heaty fruit. Haha...and it's durian season. Simon's grandparents old home at the kampong has lots of durians. Even after others had taken (well, more like waited for them to drop) so many, there're still plenty left. I also had some chocolates. The only thing I have to contend with is pimples...
I perspire so much every day, despite being in a cool room. I have to bathe in HOT water, eat HOT foods and drink HOT drinks. But at least I get my baths, and I also bargained to wash my hair at least once a week....and when guests are due to visit. That's why you won't see any photos of me during this period. Good news is that I lost the weight I gained during pregnancy.
Last Sun, when some small group friends came to visit, the air-con in the living room was switched on and the fan turned on to cool the room. Our friends said it was a bit cold and adviced us to turn off the fan. I didn't know the air-con was 21 degree celsius, I just welcome the cool temp. And then I caught a chill.
Oh man, it's the worse time ever. I felt the cold shooting through my body like electric shocks! I jumped under the covers and asked Simon to hold me. I drank piping hot ginger drink, wore a windbreaker and jumped under the comforter again. Then I waited to sweat it out, wiped myself dry and changed my clothes before going to bed. So the advice to stay warm, not to have the fan blow against you, or wash my hands/body with cold water holds true!
