Away for the weekend

Simon's off to fish and I will be visiting a longhouse with a group from Grace Methodist Church.

Simon has set off this evening to fish in South Luconia Shoal covering Hayes Reef & Merpati Reef targeting AJ & Ruby Snapper. Merpati Reef is the home for some good size AJ average at 20kg but that was about 5 yrs ago. Merpati Reef is also producing good size of MJ during the night. He will be jigging in the day and bottom fishing in the night. I pray for good weather, journey mercies and that he will have good time making new friends from Miri, Singapore and Taiwan.

PS: actually, Luconia Shoal, which lies off the North-Western coast of Sarawak over an area of several hundred kilometer in the South China Sea, has a few good dive spots. South Luconia Shoal has large pelagics like sharks, dogtooth tunas, rainbow runners and snappers. Reefs are very nicely covered with corals, gorgonian fans and sponges. North Luconia Shoal has nice coral formations covered with hard and soft corals and you can spot barracudas, snappers, tunas and with sometimes manta rays.

As for me, I will be off to Rumah Nangai at Balingian to visit a longhouse of nine families. comprising mostly the elders and the young children, coz the adults have gone to town to seek work. It's Grace Methodist Church first visit to the longhouse and we're there to support the local pastor. I will take lots of photos and will share more when I return. Here's the group that will be going (minus the young kids).
Please pray for journey mercies as we set off on a 5-hr drive early tomorrow morning and come back by Sun dinner (JIT for Mother's Day). I will be missing Jonathan, but very excited to be visiting, staying at a longhouse and bathing in the river....=)
