Wow, what a voice!

A frumpy 47-year old Scottish charity worker, Susan Boyle, took part in British Got Talent and astounded everyone as she sang "I Dreamed a Dream" from "Les Miserables". When she came on stage, Susan's dowdy appearance drew sniggers and people laughed at her when she said she dreamed of being famous like West End star Elaine Page.

I cried when I heard her performance. Way to go, Susan! Spare some time and have a listen. Maybe Oprah will invite Susan to her show, just like she did for another Filipino who was famous overnight after her video was posted on You Tube.

Oh Joy

A small package was delivered to our home today. I had placed an order with Two Peas In A Bucket during their April Fool's Day sale, and it arrived so quickly even though they took a while to pack and sent it out only last week! Inside are a couple of my fave October Afternoon SB materials, from the Night Life series. It sold out so quickly when it was launched end of last year and I was seriously doubting if I could get my hands on the cute little monsters. Plus Pink Paislee's Lily Bee papers and Friskar's Threading Water Punch (which I have deliberated over for some time). Goodness, the punch is huge, which makes it easy to punch nice edges on cardstocks. No wonder it cost a bit. Oh yes, Hambly's pink Onsies and animal rub-ons *rubbing hands in glee*!
There's more in this small little box. New stuff like glitter cardstock and pp from ki Memories, Prima's twill ribbons, Making Memories small storage jars (plastic so no danger of breakage), and CI's Bloom die-cuts and stockers. I think for the pink and floral stuff, I heard a little voice in me saying, "Don't forget to order girly stuff for baby #2 in your belly!"...LOL!
I had two orders that came in March, but I was too excited to take any photos and unpacked them so quickly. I think scrappers will agree with me that receiving these boxes or packages that contain SB stuff is such a lovely feeling that we'll be grinning the whole day!

Growing up fast

Jon's growing up fast these days. Every couple of days, he'll do new things. He throws tantrums when he doesn't get what he wants, he retaliates by hitting his older cousin when she flicks her towel at him or threatens to beat him, he refuses to go to bed in his sarong and will climb out of it or demand I bring him out, and he'll want to eat whatever we're munching.

Then the adorable side of him will put his arms around our necks or shoulders, ask to be carried, kiss us (but he has been kissing only grandma this week), run into our arms, babble away, happily sit down and allow us to put on his shoes so he can go for a walk in our compound with grandpa in the morning or sit down on the sofa and watch telly progs with us.

The other day, I came back to find him in the kitchen with a ladle and a stainless steel container. He was playing on his own while grandma and helper were preparing dinner. So I brought him to his play corner and got him to play masak masak. Don't you think he looks like he's really cooking something?

He's 20months old now and I can't believe he will turn two in four months' time. Is he really going through the terrible twos? I like this quote "There's no way to be a perfect mom, and a million ways to be a great one". I am learning as I go along.

I am not sure if I am ready for #2. The feeding every 2-3hrs, the burping, the handling of a small baby. But I look forward to the smell of a baby, to introducing Jon to his sister, Jon's taking care and protecting of the little one, and hoping that they'll be great pals and playmates in time to come.

Wana race?

Do all boys want to super car racers? You betcha! No one and nothing was harmed while taking this pic, coz the car's ignition was off and the hand brake engaged. Can you see the intense look on his face in the larger photo? He will have this look when he really enjoys doing/playing with something.

Poor Jon's nose was stuck last night. So after drinking his milk in the middle of the night, he threw up. Found he was shivering too! After a quick change of clothes, and tucking him into bed, discovered he had a fever. Gave him paracetamol and some water, and put a fever patch on his forehead. He was too weak to resist. He "spoke" a little and then drifted off to sleep. Then he woke up and puked out the water we gave him. Poor baby.

He was much better in the morning, took him out for a quick ride on his bike (didn't want him to run outside and perspire and catch a chill). Stayed home so MIL can go see the doctor. Do you realise that our parents hate to see the doc and would usually self-medicate. But this time, the cough and cold has been recurring, so it's definitely viral. Good that she saw the doc to get some anti-biotic. Otherwise she'll be tired out from taking care of the grand children, and this cold and cough will get passed to and fro. I think by now, everyone in our home has gotten a course of anti-biotic. Except for pregnant me.

Jon's vocab

I did a layout of some of Jon's fave words. Could have journaled them down, but I found this patterned paper by American Crafts that had lots of speech bubbles and thought it would be nice to have Jon "say" out the words. Also could use up my thickers.

Some words that are not included, coz I ran out of space and speech bubbles are:

- gu gu (aunty in Chinese)

- owe owe (sound of dog barking)

- miao miao (cats meowing)

- yao (want in Chinese)

- tong tong (painful in Chinese)

- yi, er, san, shi, wu (one to five in Chinese)

Off to the doc we went

We went to the doc yesterday, the 4th time in less than 2months. The first was in early Mar for a super runny nose and cough. The second time was to get anti-biotic as he didn't get any better. Then the third time was to get steroid cream for the rashes on his buttocks (the anti-biotic gave him the runs, and it resulted in rashes. Yes, I've learnt we need to wash his buttocks rather than just use wet wipes).

As MIL felt that the he was so weak from all the meds, we didn't finish two days' worth of anti-biotic. But doc said that the virus developed an immunity towards the AB and as a result, he's sick again after two weeks. This time, he gave Jon anther AB, more bitter too. Urgh! We resolve to finish this course of AB, then help him get better by giving him nutritious soup made by grandma!The doc giving him a thorough check-up. You would notice a pen in his hands. Other kids will carry a blankie or a bolster, or suck on a pacifier. But all Jon wants is a pen, any pen.

Happy after visiting the doc, on the way home.Then he decided to check out the small little pimples on his leg. Apparently, they developed coz he was running all over the house and perspired. He dug out some papers from my bag. They were some SSF projects and layouts that I printed out for inspiration. I think he loves pens, and papers like me!
