Darien & Ee Chiew's wedding on Christmas Eve

Bath time for Jon at the start of the big day. Aunty Catherine brought an inflatable tub which we loaned and Jon loved it!

It was going to be a long day, but Jon has to go through it coz it's a happy occasion for uncle Darien and aunty Ee Chiew. As the newly weds were stuck on the causeway, Jon decided to take a nap in the study room and promptly peed. Oh no, wrong bed!
Anyhow, according to Chinese traditions, they will ask a virgin boy to bounce/pee on the bed in the hope that the newly weds will give birth to a healthy, bouncy baby in the near future. Well, Jon did his job, although a little earlier and on the wrong bed. Nonetheless, Jon was tasked to roll over a few times on the bed of the newly weds!

By the time it came to dinner, it had been a long day for Jon. We prayed that he would be able to sleep in his pram with all the noise and yum sengs going on. He did got a bit cranky towards the end. By the time we reached back to YWCA, he was fast asleep in my arms and didn't even stir when we put him in the cot.

First time flying

We just came back from a two week trip to Singapore where we attended Darien and Ee Chiew's wedding, and also took the opportunity to catch up with friends and relatives.

It was Jon's first time flying, and we prayed that he will take the flight well and not be a screaming baby due to the cabin pressure. The Air Asia flight was delayed by half an hour and Jon was hungry. We had timed his feeds such that he should be drinking his milk when we're on the runway! Thank goodness he was asleep by the time we boarded the plane.
But when the pilot made his announcement once we were in the air, J woke up and cried a little. Into his mouth went the bottle!

Flipping over

J's been turning to his sides for the past two weeks, and we had helped him flip over a couple of times coz he was stuck. Today, J decided he would flip over for us. And both of us were present when he did it by himself for the first time. He kept steady and looked around our room for a while before deciding he was tired and needed a rest. He subsequently flipped over a few more times...looks like this is going to be his new trick for Christmas.

Huat Kueh

We had mini huat kueh when Jonathan turned four months young last week. Huat kueh, 发糕, Prosperity cake are steamed cup cakes are usually light or dark brown in color. Leavening during its production process produces a "bloom" that symbolizes prosperity. Usually eaten during Chinese new year, the size of the "bloom" is an indicator of the degree of prosperity in the coming year. Chinese prefer large "blooms" so some bakers have responded by adding generous dosages of baking power to ensure their Prosperity Cakes have a big "bloom". To us, it's just nice spongy cakes...for we believe God is the Provider.

Me and Gu Gu

This is my Gu Gu, or Aunty Catherine. I like it when she carries me. She comes every Sunday with Gu Zhang, Uncle Bryan, and my cousin Megan.

Making his passport

Jon will freeze if he catches us taking photos of him. So you can imagine him doing so when we brought him to the studio to take a photo of him so we can make his passport.

His serious look

The weather is also quite hot when it's not raining, so we bought him a hat to wear when he goes out.

Going to church

Jon likes going to church. He enjoys worship. And he likes it when Pastor Law preaches. He thought pastor was talking to him and he babbled back.
